Oh my gosh. Assassin's Creed 2 is good enough to hurt my brain. And yes! This means that our Xbox is up and running, but I'm not entirely sure for how long. We brought it home and plugged it in, and it instantly red ringed. ...and then started working.
Why must you taunt us, Xbox. |

Nevada's a pretty cool place! Las Vegas itself issss... not as much. Everything feels like it's covered in a thin coat of 1994, and it's super expensive. Also, everyone there seemed to be constantly bickering over things for some reason, and we came back with handfuls of those bloody one dollar coins.
The fact that you can drink on the street though, that's pretty sweet. And the wedding that we went to was lovely.
Oh, I did lose Emily though. She revealed to me her true nature - that of a mole person - and burrowed away to her secret lair forever.
( It was great while it lasted though. ) |

Ahoy hoy,
Just for the record, if you see a Darda running around TB this isn't the radical Vancouver variety. This is a new, strange Darda, who seems to have called dibs on the name.
Edit: Alternatively, a hacker. |

Sometimes it just hits you, the need for a pastry with sprinkles.
I'm doing a storybook! No, not a real one for money! That is crazy talk. A fan one, of the variety that Gabe did awhile back for Prince of Persia. Only not really like that, because I'm pretty sure that was a commission, and not the product of intense nerdery. ...And the need to do flat things unrelated to 3D.
I'll get back into my normal style and normal subject matter eventually, but sometimes you just have to flip styles/subject matter and butcher anatomy for a few months.
Half off Halloween candy, what! |

Happy Halloween everyone!
I hope it's filled with candy and not too many dead Michael Jackson costumes and the smell of candle-charred pumpkins on the street. Seriously, that's the nicest smell. |

Woah, crazy! Do Americans have loonies that we weren't aware of? Emily came back from Portland with a pocket full of American change, and there are two one dollar pieces in there, one silver and one gold. What up with that. |

| Sketch Blog (This Time It's For Real) |
[Oct. 16th, 2009|01:11 pm] |
Have I talked about this yet? I always talk about things that I've already mentioned in the past. I blame the spray fixative from second year in college. It smells really, really good.
My newish sketchblog is here if you're interested, and so far I've actually managed to keep it updated. Most of the work is already on DA, but we need to keep a blog for our gradshow at the end of the year to show employers, so hey. I hope they like pinup girls and videogame fanart, because I never grow artistically or emotionally, yeeeee hawww!
What am I talking about, who doesn't like those things. |

AN ADMISSION OF GUILT.
I have never read any of Pratchett's books or body of work, and likely never will. In fact, after making my way through the Pern books, stumbling through Piers Anthony and hitting my head against the wall that was Robert Jordan, I think it's fair to say that modern fantasy writing and I now run in different circles. I can't really place why it is, but I made my peace with that some time ago.
That said, I recently had a fantasy book thrust at me, and despite my obnoxious cynicism, I actually burned through the 700 odd pages like it weren't no thang. It still has some bumps, and the first five chapters aren't really any great shakes, but it was a good time and I'm actually looking forward to the next book in the series.
Anyhoo, if you've read The Name of the Wind let me know if you liked it! Not to be confused with The Shadow of the Wind, which is also a good book if you're into post-war Barcelona and giant underground libraries. And lots of torture. Always with the torture. |

Learning 3D is kind of like trying to paint a picture with one hand while someone is constantly hollering at you to finish an algebra test with the other. It's highly crazy, and sometimes a little backwards. So far though, it's super good, and it's great to be back in an art school environment. Even if that environment is a grand total of one cramped classroom stuffed full of students and their workstations. And a couch. And many Star Wars/Watchmen posters. And during next term I will probably never leave it.
But on the bright side, our workstations each have 21" Cintiqs* and versions of 3D software that has either just been released, or hasn't been released to the public yet.
Also, this grad from last year and I were chatting for a bit, and he's pretty much locked me into the idea of doing environments. I'm not sure I can beat him*, but I'm hoping to get close.
*These are ridiculous! *Seriously. What a pretty reel. |

| Oh, Flickr. You troublemaker. |
[Aug. 29th, 2009|04:50 pm] |
I've been organizing my Flickr account into sets and changing permissions, etc, but it looks like this has broken like... every link ever posted on this blog. So that's fun! This is what comes from not reading the instructions beforehand, durp durp.
Regardless, if you're looking for any pictures, scribbles or screenshots from the past couple of years just try the ol' Deviant Art site first, and, if they're not there, you're free and clear to visit the Flickr account. It's like one of those comically full exploding closets though, minus the prerequisite bowling ball on the top shelf.
Also I'm still in Ontario for ONE MORE DAY and then I can scuttle back to my nerd cave in on the west coast. Hoo-rah! |
